I really enjoy my work and am enthusiastic about helping people to make positive changes in their lives.
I recently left the NHS to focus on my private practice, after 17 years working in a variety of mental health services. I specialise in working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties. Before I left the NHS, I had been working in community and inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for 6 years. Prior to that I worked mainly with adults in specialist therapy services. Throughout my career my main focus has been on working therapeutically with people using a range of approaches.
I am a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS); registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist, and am a member of EMDR UK and an Accredited CAT Practitioner within the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy. I am also a member of the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) and The Faculty for Children, Young People & their Families (CYPF). I adhere to ethical codes of practice from both the BPS and HCPC.
Regular supervision is vital to safe practice and ongoing learning; I receive regular clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist and also an experienced CAT practitioner and supervisor. I frequently attend a range of workshops, courses and other events which keep my practice up to date and my thinking fresh, as well as reading deeply into various topics related to my work. I also have an annual DBS check.
