About me

Dr Megan Kendall

about me

I qualified as a clinical psychologist in 2011, and am based in Poole, Dorset, UK. I really enjoy my work and am enthusiastic about helping people to make positive changes in their lives.

I left the NHS in 2020 to focus on my private practice, after 17 years working in a variety of mental health services. I specialise in working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties. I have a specialist interest in working with people who have experienced trauma, including complex trauma and PTSD and the many ways in which such issues can manifest in peoples’ lives.

Before I left the NHS, I had been working in community and inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for 6 years. Prior to that I worked mainly with adults in specialist therapy services. Throughout my career my main focus has been on working therapeutically with people using a range of approaches.

I am a member of the Association of Clinical Psychologists UK; registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist, and am a member of EMDR UK and an Accredited CAT Practitioner within the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy as well as having completed intensive accredited training with Internal Family Systems UK.

Regular supervision is vital to safe practice and ongoing learning; I receive regular clinical supervision from Clinical Psychologists, as well as specialist EMDR, CAT and IFS supervision. I frequently attend a range of workshops, courses and other events which keep my practice up to date and my thinking fresh, as well as reading deeply into various topics related to my work. I also have an annual DBS check.

Please get in touch with any questions you might have, or to schedule an initial assessment. I look forward to hearing from you!
